A ll employees need to be made aware of their part in the Chain of Responsibility (COR) for this process. Anybody – not just the driver – who has control over the transport task can be held responsible for breaches of road laws and may be legally liable. All parties in the supply chain – consignor/dispatcher, packer, loa der, scheduler, consignee/receiver, manager, as well as the driver and operator – must take all reasonable steps to prevent breaches of the road transport mass, dimension, loading, speed compliance and work hours laws. Some examples of breaches include: br eaches of f atigue m anagement or s peed limits; breaches of mass, dimension, or loading requirements; any demands or instructions that may cause or contribute to an offence under a road transport law, eg: unrealistic timeframes on drivers which cause them to exceed their work rest options or inadequate provision of sleep environment to allow for quality sleep. Each person in the supply chain must take all reasonable steps to ensure a heavy vehicle driver can perform their duties without breaching road transp ort laws. HRS has procedures in place for Fatigue Management and Truck Loading which must be adhered to at all times. In the event you are at any time unsure about the application of a particular job, you commit to stopping the job and seeking immediate a ssistance or guidance. David Nunn Managing Director
